How do you know how to decide on a strength training routine?
This is one part of any weight lifting program that is often misunderstood. My personal opinion is that it is a necessary addition to help fulfill you personal workout goals. To increase your overall body strength you have to increase the amount of weight you are lifting. When you include strength training to your weekly program remember these key points.

1.    Set your weight lifting goals

This is so important when beginning an exercise program. Decide what your goals are then tailor your program to reach those goals. Without a strategic plan you will surely wind up somewhere but not necessarily where you want to be.If losing weight is your desire then design your program with that in mind. A program that adds muscle mass will not necessarily help you lose weight. Write down your goals and aspirations to increase your odds of success and make sure you are consistent.

2.The Reigning King is Consistency

The only way to see results is to stay focused and consistent. If you’re cycling you’re current strength training routine then stick to your program. You must allow the time for your body to adapt to the stress you are putting on it. You will know when it is time to change your weight lifting workout, it is usually when you have reached a plateau. Don’t change your strength training routine too soon or your results will be less than expected.


3. Strength training workouts

Each muscle group must not be overtrained. Training only one body part once a week is a great way to begin your strength building routine. Too often we see beginner weight lifters working out everyday and seeing little to no results. Strength training each muscle group only one time a week in the beginning will greatly increase your chances of success.

4. Weight training compound exercises

To dramatically increase your overall size and strength you have to do compound exercises with heavy weight. The three crucial components of any strength building routine are the squat, dead lift and the bench press.
